BSN Degree

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program can be completed in four years at state universities and private colleges. The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) takes two to three years in a community college or trade school, which prepares a student to be a registered nurse in a specific area. Unlike the ADN, the BSN will prepare nursing students for a wider range of nursing settings, so it is not necessary for a student to decide what type of nursing professional he or she wants to be in the beginning of his or her nursing education program. Nursing students who are enrolled in BSN programs will also be trained to handle administrative and leadership roles, which can aide them in promotions and long-term career goals.
