Nursing Schools in Florida (FL)

Written by NS StaffJuly 13, 2011

Students at Florida nursing schools are lucky to be able to enjoy all that the Sunshine State has to offer while also studying for an important new career. However, Florida is more than just alligators, beaches, and a certain talking mouse. With lush gardens and warm winters draw visitors from all over, Florida is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Miami is the hot spot for night life, while the NASA Kennedy Space Center is the hot spot for science geeks and Orlando is the big draw for families.

But it’s not just tourists who flock to Florida. The absence of a state income tax makes Florida an excellent place to work or to retire, attracting more and more new residents each year. With the increasing number of retirees in Florida, all types of allied health professionals are needed, including home health nurses and assisted-living center nurses. At the moment, there’s a projected need of about 194,000 Florida registered nurses (RNs), but the state currently has only 152,000. Imagine the career opportunities for trained Florida nursing schools graduates!
